Breakdown cover
12 months breakdown cover
With our breakdown cover, you’ll get the help you need if your vehicle breaks down, so you won’t be left stranded at the roadside. The policy includes roadside assistance, vehicle recovery, home start and onward travel cover. It covers the driver and up to 7 passengers for vehicles under 16 years old.
Breakdown Cover is a separate policy to your motor insurance and won’t affect your No Claims Bonus or renewal premium.
The policy covers any vehicle specified on the policy schedule that meets the following criteria:
- Any private car
- Van (up to 3.5 tonnes)
- Motorcycle (150cc and above)
Caravan and trailer breakdown cover
You also get all the benefits of our standard breakdown cover for any trailer (up to 3 metres long) or caravan attached to the vehicle.
24-hour assistance helpline
Hadleigh Breakdown provide 24/7 assistance to ensure you’re not left stranded at the scene of the breakdown.
What’s covered
Nationwide roadside assistance
Hadleigh Breakdown will arrange for a roadside technician to try and repair your vehicle at the scene of the breakdown. If your vehicle can’t be repaired, they will get you and your passengers to your home, onward destination or to a local garage.
Phone and messaging service
A phone and messaging service is provided (upon request), so you can let your family and friends know what’s happened.
Onward travel
If you are more than 25 miles from your home and the vehicle cannot be repaired or recovered to any one place of your choice on the same day, the policy covers up to £35 per person or £150 in total (whichever is less) for one of the following:
Vehicle hire
Vehicle hire up to a maximum of 2 days.
Or
Alternative travel
Alternative travel so that the driver and the passengers can finish their journey.
Or
Overnight accommodation
Overnight accommodation up to a maximum of 2 nights.
Home assistance
Should you require breakdown assistance within 1 mile of your home address, Hadleigh Breakdown will provide a technician and where necessary transport you to the nearest repairer up to 20 miles.
Breakdown cover benefits
Any driver
It doesn’t matter who is driving at the time, this policy covers any legal driver using the vehicle.
Misfuelling cover
Covers the costs of recovery as of result of contamination or wrong fuel being used.
Lost keys
Covers ignition keys lost, stolen or locked in the vehicle.
Driving in Europe?
If you’re planning a European trip, we can also provide European breakdown cover.
What’s not covered
- Any loss, damage or costs that are covered by another insurance or breakdown organisation.
- The cost of replacement parts.
- Any resultant damage or failure of any parts caused by incorrect fuel being used.
- Any repairing, replacing or reprogramming of keys.
- Any claim within the first 48 hours of cover commencing. Only applies to vehicle recovery.
